The Cochin University of Science and Technology came into being on July 10,1971, for promotion of higher education and research in state with emphasis on Science, Technology, Industry and Commerce. It has at present 27 department of study and research,a centre for Undergraduate Engineering Studies, an Engineering College and a College of Computer Applications at Alappuzha. New centers have been established for Information Resources Management, Artificial Intelligence, Neuroscience, Creative writing, Comparative Literature, Population studies and Monsoon Studies in the year 2000.

M.Tech. (Industrial Catalysis)	M.Sc. degree with at least 2^nd Class; Chemistry/Applied Chemistry or any other degree recognised as equivalent with a valid GATE score.

M.Sc. Physics	B.Sc. Degree with Physics main and Mathematics subsidiary with at least 55% marks in Physics
M.Phil. Physics	M.Sc. degree in Physics with at least 50% marks

M.Sc. Statistics (course offered in alternate years)	B.Sc. Degree in Mathematics or Statistics main with at least 55% marks for optional subjects taken together

M.Tech Engineering Statistics	First class B.Tech in Mechanical/Production/Chemical Engg/M.Sc Statistics. Gate Score in Mechanical/Production/Chemical Engg/Statistics.
